Make Money on YouTube
In today’s digital world, there are numerous ways to earn money on the internet, and probably more new methods may arise in the future. But as of now, we all know about the most popular way to do it, and that is YouTube. It was created and launched in 2005 and bought by Google in the succeeding year. It allows people to run various advertisements on their channel and with that you earn money on this platform – this is called monetization. For marketing purposes, this is one of the best platforms as more than half of the entire marketers in the world use YouTube in their marketing strategy.
They keep on searching ways to optimize their channels by providing valuable and informative content to the subscribers and viewers all over the world. In the end, all they’re looking at is how to earn more and more money through their videos. As we all know that to earn money here, one must be aware of and follow certain rules that are set up in the YouTube policy. So, in this article, you’ll get to know what has changed in the YouTube policy and how to enable monetization by signing up for Google AdSense.
Current changes in the YouTube Policy
YouTube monetization is not a simple process, it has gone through a series of changes its policy over the last few years making it more strict every time. In early January 2018, YouTube creators made changes yet again, not allowing users to achieve monetization easily. Here are the changes – it mentions that to apple for monetization, your channels need:
- At least 4000 hours of watch time in the previous 12 months and,
- 1000 subscribers
These rules will be enforced starting 20th February and those channels who do not meet this threshold, will not be able to run ads on their channels and earn money. Many users around the world became quite upset when they heard about it because now it has become extremely difficult for new and small channels to achieve those two thresholds in just one year.
Let me remind you that prior to these changes, users had to fulfill just one requirement, and that was if their channel had at least 10000 views, only then they are allowed to become a YouTube Partner. This step was initiated to determine the validity and authenticity of the channels. We all also know that YouTube favors and promotes original content, which is one of the reasons why rules are getting stricter periodically. Just imagine that your channel was going to hit 10000 views in just a few days, and then the new changes suddenly pop-up. So painful and frustrating that would be, right? But, we have to abide by the rules and regulations, no matter what.
